FAQ'S, RESOURCES

What is the APOS Treatment?

APOS stands for 'All Phases of the Step Cycle'. Put simply, the APOS Treatment re-designs the way you walk. The treatment combines individually designed footwear, called Walkrights, with a personalised programme put together by specially trained therapists. APOS Walkrights feature a unique adjustable attachment called a "Pertupod". The Pertupods are selected and calibrated by a specially trained clinician to create the desired alignment and posture for each client. The clinician will then devise a personal walking programme for the patient that is undertaken at home, typically for around 30 minutes a day.

What conditions can APOS help with?

The APOS Treatment can help with a range of orthopaedic problems such as:

  • Knee pain (Osteoarthritis, patellofemoral, meniscal tear, ligament tear)
  • Lower back pain
  • Rehabilitation before and after knee and hip surgery
  • Hip pain (Osteoarthritis)
  • Ankle problems (post fractures, recurrent ankle sprain)

Is the treatment safe and effective?

Yes, APOS patients have been continually monitored and the treatment has been shown to be safe and effective.

Is APOS available anywhere else in the UK?

At present APOS is exclusively available at Bupa Wellness Centres.

How long will it take before I can benefit from APOS Treatment?

It really depends on your personal circumstances. Most patients will feel real relief in a couple of weeks. Once you have completed the standard APOS Treatment programme, then you will be prescribed a maintenance programme to follow on an on-going basis.
