At home, in the office, at your own pace - the beauty of APOS is that the treatment is simple and easy, taking place in your own environment, requiring no special activity on your part.

Personally calibrated for each customer, the revolutionary APOS system consists of infinitely adjustable, convex PertupodsTM that are attached to the soles of specially designed footwear. A range of PertupodTM models are available, each featuring a different set of physical characteristics. Set below the weight-bearing heel and forefoot, an APOS clinician selects the best fit PertupodTM model and calibrates their precise location to achieve the desired alignment and posture required for each customer.
Put simply, the APOS system re-designs the way you walk.
As we walk, our body's weight is carried alternately by each leg, creating a weight on the lower back and limb joints with every step. In response to this, the muscles contract in a coordinated way to stabilise our joints. The foot's exact points of contact with the ground during each step determine how our weight is distributed and which muscles will react.

The breakthrough of the APOS system is that it achieves two healing actions in one step.
Re-adjusts load for reduced pain: By individually calibrating the PertupodsTM to alter your feet's point of contact with the ground, the APOS system re-adjusts the distribution of your body's weight away from damaged areas with the aim of reducing pain.
Retrains neuromuscular control: The degree of resilience and shape of the patented PertupodsTM are custom calibrated for each customer to simulate minutely uneven walking surfaces. By altering the nature of your foot's point of contact with the ground, the APOS system retrains the body's neuromuscular system into patterns that restore the joint into healthy action. The neuromuscular system is the system that coordinates the interaction of the muscles and nerves, required for the proper functioning of all joints.
For customers suffering from back pain, the PertupodsTM are custom calibrated to strengthen and promote coordinated action of the stabilising muscles of the abdomen, back and pelvis.
While you carry out the treatment in your own environment, the team at Bupa are here for you, whether for scheduled visits at the centre or by phone.
Initial consultation: You will be invited for a no-commitment initial clinical examination and treatment consultation at the APOS Centre. The evaluation is supported by a computerised gait laboratory test which provides objective data on your movement while you walk.
A specially trained clinician will design a personal treatment program to perform at home or in the office at your convenience. Your custom fitted APOS system will be assembled on the spot, precisely calibrated to alleviate pain and improve your function.
At the end of this consultation, if the clinician recommends the treatment, you can decide whether you'd like to purchase the APOS Treatment, including the APOS system and three follow-up consultations.
Monitoring your progress: You return for follow-up consultations to evaluate your progress which includes re-testing on the computerised gait laboratory. If necessary, the APOS clinician may consider recalibration, as well as changes to the treatment programme according to the progress you have made.
Telephone: Please feel free to contact one of the APOS trained experts at Bupa for assistance or for help in scheduling an appointment at the APOS centre.
In the UK the APOS Treatment is provided by Bupa clinicians who are registered physiotherapists that have been trained by APOS and certified in APOS Treatment.
Some customers feel some pain relief even after only one use of their custom calibrated APOS system. After just a few weeks of APOS Treatment, typically 30 minutes of walking each day, many patients experienced a reduction in pain that lasted an entire day, as well as improved function - not just when wearing the APOS system.
Well beyond treating your immediate pain, APOS Treatment over the long-term keeps you walking and active, and improves your wellbeing.
